So after an interestingly refreshing sunday morning in port dickson, I started my drive back towards KL.and started getting hungry some where around the Seremban Rest & Relax stop. Me and a couple of friends had agreed to go for lunch at the the Rest house.
On our way into the rest house, we expected to see a fast food restaurant franchise. Something along the lines of KFC or Mcdonalds.
We were soooo wrong to expect that.
There wasn't a single Mcdonalds or KFC in sight! And the usual Baskin Robbins Restaurant had been taken over by a restaurant called SHALALA Coffee.
"Shalala coffee? Almost makes u wanna sing huh?" was the comment that come out spontaneously from me.
The others who were in my car at that moment were too hungry and frustrated that there wasn't a fast food joint to laugh at my silly outburst. Making a trip down to the car park was a challenge in and of itself. Apparently Malaysian parking culture seems to withhold its powers even along the North South expressway, as the cars were parked to the brim. Some even double parking just so that they could be closer to the toilets.
Anyway, we found a parking underneath some shade in the petrol station and headed over to the large circus tent like establishment in the middle of the rest and relax stopover. Upon arrival of the shop, the aroma of beriyani rice flooded our senses. Almost imediately i placed an order for their Lamb Beriani rice combo deal, which came with rice and drinks. Not expecting much, i sat down waiting for the food, as the food served at stopovers along the highway has been known to be sub-par.
The others ordered similar stuff, except for one of us who ordered Laksa instead of rice. By god did he regret his decision.
The orders arrived promptly after being placed, and wow was the look on our faces when we were served up with rich lamb aromas wafting from the rice. Wasting no time at all, we jabbed our forks into the meat, only to find that they were tender and juicy! The laksa arrived immediately after, and from the look on our friend's face it tasted really bad.
The meat from our Beriani Rice was succulent and rich, the aroma filled our entire mouth and nasal canal. This led to one of the best experiences we had in an eatery by the highway, when the bill arrived we were further shocked. The Beriani Rice combo was only 8.90 inclusive of drinks!!
Thus we all agreed that the eatery, SHALALA coffee is a considerable place to eat. If only for their Nasi Beriani Combo :P
