alright guys.. i know i havent posted for a while..
thank you to all my readers who are still reading this blog.
i've been very busy lately with exams and whatever else bugs a teenager's life..(although i no longer am 1)
but anyway.. to make up.. i shall tell u an inspiring story of my trip to eat noodles :)
its long because i would like to apologize (not that i won't write long otherwise) and cos the noodles were just that inspiring.
forgive me for dropping names..
i promise to come up with names as soon as i can :)
(thanks to my guides for pointing out this place and making me dislike laksa before :P)

yesterday i went for dinner in this interesting little joint underneath what is now known as digital mall :)
( for those of you who do not know about digital mall,it was once known as metrojaya and is located in section 14)
so looking at the rundown semi deserted place i was a little bit disheartened i must say..
however, as i turned down the aged corridors led by my tour guides i was intrigued by that sense of nostalgia.
evening light streamed in from vents that housed ventilation fans.
low hanging halogen tube lights dimmed from age, further illuminated the area.
as we walked down the aisle, the bare few shops that were opened provided the atmosphere and din needed in a food joint :)
sounds of dishes being washed and pots being clanged around in preparation for the dinner crowds.
there were a few sets of steps leading from aisle to aisle.
after heading down to the aisle on the far left, my guides pointed out a shop that was to be our host for dinner tonight.
expecting to be sitting somewhere in front of the shop i turned to make an order.
however, my guides seemed to have other plans as they told me to walk down the next set of steps into an aisle that looked like a courtyard.
presuming they wanted to keep me in surprise, i acknowledged and planted myself at one of the square tables situated in the middle of the aisle.
a few moments later they joined me at the table and announced that they ordered "laksa"
a traditional peranakan dish, that was a fusion of chinese and malay elements. (quoted:wikipedia)
expecting the usual dish served by malays i profusely declined, expecting the usual fare of sub standard broth that usually leaves my mouth feeling lined with fat and not able to savour the spices and thus the meal to the fullest. (i do not mean to offend anyone with this statement. but my guides have been responsible for my distaste of laksa. this trip was made with the promise that i will definitely be pleased with laksa for once lolz..)
that was when they declared that it was "Siam Laksa" and made by an old chinese uncle.
this struck me as very intriguing and after rocking a little on my creaky stool i decided to brave this one out :)
not too long after, during the time in which the argument had subsided and i had a chance to look at other wares by other shops.(my guides insisted that i dun go to see the name of the shop i'm sorry)
the dish that was called "siam laksa" was presented to me.
from the moment in touched the table, i was captivated by it.
a slight breeze picked up as the hot noodles shifted the air pressure around it.
wafts of steam infused with mint, pineapple, lemongrass, onions, coconut milk and fresh taugeh(beansprouts) tickled our nostrils.
and if that wasnt enought to set u salivating, the thick curry soup was tantalizingly sour, sweet, spicy and didn't feel greasy on the lips even with the coconut milk in it.
cili padi slices were littered in the soup that i had to avoid :P( for all my love of curry, i just can't handle a chilli padi without reaching out for the nearest drink equvalent :P)
the broth was a blend of curry laksa and assam laksa, and unlike the cases where it was only poured into the bowl of noodles at the last minute, this broth actually seeped into the noodles so that they became flavourful individually.
slurping on the noodles was pure joy, as the noodles had the essence of the broth nicely infused in it.
the soup wasn't too thick.. and its tang set my senses to high alert, i was sweating profusely from all that cili padi, yet i continued to slurp, the zing from pineapple made my previously sleepy mood vanish in an instant.
onmy guides insistance i tried out the sambal belacan laid before me.
bracing myself, i tasted a pinch.
3 seconds later i found myself pinching more and more :P
the savoury texture of the sambal and its slight spicyness blended nicely with the laksa causing me to semiconciously speed up my eating.
as i hit rock bottom, my guides ordered another bowl for me.
this time it was "assam laksa".
fearing that i would not be able to taste the assam laksa due to the powerhouse of tastes that had attacked my taste buds, i decided to sit out.
but the oreder was made so my guide gleefully took up the order and prepared to finish it.
when the "assam laksa" finally arrived, the intense grip its smell had on me was just unbearable.
i just had to try some.
and then i tasted regret:P
i wanted the bowl of "assam laksa" to myself.
the clear light broth, sour base flavor, intense mint smell and flavour enriched noodles.
but a promise is a promise :P
so i had to let that bowl go...
but now.. if i'm in section 14 and i need a pick me up meal..
i definitely know where to go :)

ok..
this is one of the most interesting things that
my friend came across
she had a stock of leftover food stuffed in the fridge and she decided to resolve her hunger using them...
therefore.. the horror began...
she tossedall the left over lamb chops, spaghetti carbonara, roti canai, steamed fish, chick peas, Eggs
into a pan and stir fried them....
OMG!~!!
it looked horrible and smelled atrocious according to her..
but it seems it was good to taste..
as it stands we now await the photos to be uploaded and then i shall update you all
about the glory of STUNTMAN MEAL!!!
lolz..
warning: this is not for the faint of heart. do not watch if u cannot take ugly looking foodstuff :) the link shall be posted in a future post so that u get ample warning :)
